It’s been quiet long Android 4.3 is out of the bag and gradually the update is rolled out for almost all high end devices(S3, S4 and HTC One). But, as the OTA update will be released country wise it can take some time to reach your device. All Galaxy S3, users will be anxiously be waiting for Android 4.3 and here it is.
For this update to be running on your device, you need to have your device rooted and CWM installed on it. Android 4.3 CM10.2 Nightly Jelly Bean Custom ROM is meant only for Galaxy S3 I9300 model and should not be installed on any other model. Remember, installing a Nightly Custom ROM has it’s own repercussions as it you may find some apps not working properly.
- Rooted Samsung Galaxy S3
- ClockWorkMOD recovery installed.
- Create a Backup for your SDCard and phone.
- Make sure your phone is at least 80% charged.
- Make sure you USB debugging turned ON. To do this,
Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging
Files to be Downloaded
#1) Download, Android 4.3 CM10.2 ROM and place the ZIP file in the root of your SDcard(not in any folder).
#2) Connect your phone to the PC and makes sure the SDCard gets recognized.
#3) Switch off your phone. Up next, reboot your phone in recovery mode by using the following key combination.
Volume Up + Home button + Power Button
Press this combination until the Galaxy Y logo appears on the screen. Now you are in recovery mode where the touchscreen will not work, no need to panic. In recovery mode only the physical controls will work. Use Volume Up & Down keys to navigate , Home Screen to make selection and Power button to revert back.
#4) This step is optional but recommended. While in recovery mode, select the option “wipe data/factory reset” and then select “wipe cache partition” to completely wipe cache. Frequent problems like, boot loops can lend you in trouble, for preventing that go to “Advance Menu” in CWM and select “wipe delvik cache”.
#5) After all this, head over to the main menu of recovery and select “install ZIP from SD card”. Form the next window, select “choose ZIP from SD card”. Select the Android 4.3 ROM ZIP file from the SD card.
#6) The installation will start when you confirm it. Once, it is done go back to the Main menu and select “+++++Go Back++++++” and select “reboot system now” from the next window.
#7) The system will go for reboot and it will approximately take 5-7 minutes for the first time, so don’t worry. Hopefully, you should now have Android 4.3 Nightly Jelly Bean ROM successfully imported to your phone. To check, go to Settings -> About phone and check the firmware version.
Note: You will find many default apps missing from the phone, the same can be download from the above link and install them in the same manner as the Custom ROM (till step 5) was installed.
