Yes, you heard it right, a PC or Laptop running Windows 8 can be used easily as a wireless Hotspot which can help other computers to connect to your connection. I know that there are many wireless router and softwares like., Connectify to solve the purpose but what if someday you ran out of these resources. In that case, I have a very convenient way to create a Wireless Hotspot using the command line.
Wireless tethering can be easily performed using the given below steps. Here, we will be using the in-built utility of windows to create a hosted network. No matter what you’re using as the connecting medium, be it a 3G USB Data card or a WiFi connection, the connection will be shared wirelessly among your peers with WPA2 encryption.
Steps to be followed
Step 1) Open Run using Windows Button + R, then type “ncpa.cl“.
Step 2) Right click on the active connection and select “Properties“.
Step 3) In the dialogue box, move to “Sharing” tab and enable the first option. Press “OK”.
Step 4) On the Desktop, hover to the left of the taskbar and Right Click. You will see the option “Command Prompt(admin)“. Select this option, the same can be done by searching manually.
Step 5) On the command prompt, type the following command
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=”technogiantz” key=”tech123456″
Here, ssid is the network name, you can specify any name, in my case it is technogiantz. You can also protect the network by setting the key. In this case the key is “tech123456“.
Step 6) Now, we need to start broadcasting the network, type the following command,
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Step 7) Now, you’re ready to go the wireless network. You can open any other laptop and you can see the new wireless network available.
