Lava Iris 504Q is a new gadget in the town with loads of breath taking features which include a 5-inch IPS HD Touch screen display. Riding at a price tag of Rs. 13,490 the phone rightly delivers what a smartphone at this range should be capable of. A 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM reside at the heart of the phone.
Recently, the phone has been very popular with it’s Gesture Control feature which recognizes hand gesture to flip images and radio stations. The feature looks impressive Online but I’m yet to get hands on the same.
So, here we began with the rooting procedure for Lava Iris 504Q, thereafter we move to installation of CWM Recovery using SP Flash tools. Remember, the procedure is lengthy so stay alert and vigilant.

- Create a Backup for your SDCard and phone.
- Download the files mentioned below.
- PC running Windows 7
- Make sure your phone is at least 80% charged.
- Make sure USB debugging is ON.
Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging
Files needed for Rooting
Procedure to Root Lava Iris 504Q
Step 1) Extract the ZIP file i.e., Rooting Package from the above link to the hard drive of your Computer or PC.
Step 2) Install the USB driver using the file named MTK drivers you downloaded.
Step 3) Extract the MTK6589 Auto Root folder from the ZIP Package you downloaded earlier.
Step 4) Connect your PC via USB. The driver will automatically be recognized. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
Step 5) Once the phone is connected, run the file named root.bat from the Auto Root folder. Press any key to confirm.
Step 6) Now, the rooting process will start. Wait, till the process gets complete. Reboot the phone once the process is finished.
Step 7) Yeah.!! you have successfully rooted your phone. To check for the same, just download the Root Checker app from PlayStore.
Files required for CWM Recovery Installation
Procedure to install CWM Recovery on Lava Iris 504Q
Step 1) Download CWM Recovery from the above link. Extract the recovery.img file from the package and copy it to the root of your SD card. ( foe eg, sdcard/recovery.img).
Step 2) Download and Install Mobile Uncle Tools on the phone using the apk file. Run the app and assign Superuser permission to it. Click on the Recovery update option and select the file recovery.img from the SDCard.
Step 3) Once, it installs the recovery.img file, the app will ask for a reboot. Press yes and reboot the phone.
Step 4) Now, in order to flash the recovery using SP Flash Tools, place the recovery.img file and MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt file in the same folder.
Step 5) Extract the ZIP package from above and run flashtools.exe from the list of files. On SP Flash Tools window, click on Scatter loading and select MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt.
Step 6) Now, check only recovery.img from the next window, rest of the things remain unchecked. Switch off your phone.
Step 7) Click, the Download button on the SP Flash Tools window. At the same time, connect your phone via USB to the PC. Flash Tools will start looking for the device and initiate the process of flashing.
Note : Do not unplug the device at this step else it may even brick your device.
Step 8) Wait till the yellow progress bar gets completed. Once, the flashing is done you will see a green ring icon on the device. This indicates the successful installation of CWM Recovery.
Step 9) If you’ve reached till this step, it means that you have both rooted and installed CWM on your phone. Press, Volume Up + Power Button to enter in CWM Recovery mode.
